CONSULTATION TOOLS & RESOURCES

You Got This

“All the tools, techniques and technology in the world are nothing without the head, heart and hands to use them wisely, kindly and mindfully.” - Rasheed Ogunlaru

Just starting out? Or feeling a bit rusty? You might find this extract from the workbook that I use on foundation immunisation courses helpful

UK National Immunisation Schedule

The cheat sheet that gets us through the day.

The other cheat sheet that gets us through the day.

The uncertain or incomplete vaccination algorithm

Eligibility checker

NOTE: This calculator assumes vaccinations are administered in line with the routine UK childhood immunisation schedule. It is intended to support clinicians but does not replace clinical judgement or clinical decision making. If any vaccinations are missed, delayed or incomplete, do not use this calculator and instead refer to the UKHSA algorithm document

And one for Shingles too!

Guides for parents about childhood immunisations

This is another useful leaflet:

Changes to the childhood vaccination programme: why are they happening.

This flyer explains the changes to the childhood vaccination programmes from 1 July 2025 to parents of eligible children.

The Red Book

How to use the new red book inserts for the changes to the routine childhood immunisation schedule 2026

page 18: Routine childhood schedule. This is an updated page. Only give this page to babies born from 1 July 2024 and remove old version

page 19a: What to expect after vaccination with MMRV vaccine

page 21: Revised page for immunisations at 12 months

page 21a: Immunisations at 18 months. This is a revised page for all babies born from 1 July 2024. For children who received MMR at 12 months, this will be their first MMRV dose. They should be offered a second dose at 3 years 4 months

page 22: Pre-school immunisations – 3 years 4 months. This is an updated page for babies born from 1 July 2024. Remove the existing page

Each set of 6 inserts comes with an instruction sheet. If vaccines are already recorded on a page, even if the schedule has now changed for that child, keep that page in the red book as a record of previous vaccines given.

You can place orders for the sets of inserts or red books by visiting: Health for all children or by emailing immpchr@harlowsolutions.co.uk

Vaccine manufacturers have some really useful resources, such as vaccine record books, leaflets, posters, world epidemiology maps, search tools, and free training modules. Click on the pictures to get to some useful FREE resources (please note I have no affiliation or preference for any particular drug companies and I am not being paid to promote anyone - these are just a selection of sites I thought you might find useful TRY ALL of the drug companies. They all have useful stuff to offer!)

Don't forget that your local representatives can often come in to your clinic if you need a bit of top up education. Reps are a font of knowledge and can educate your teams on very specific drugs. They know a HUGE amount about their products, and in my experience are SUPER PASSIONATE which is always an empowering experience.
